Design Architect

DesignTomorrow is looking for a Design Architect to join our Dubai studio and work at the conceptual and schematic stages of our projects. This is a role for someone who lives in the early stages of design: shaping ideas, exploring options, and translating client ambition into clear, compelling architecture.

You will work closely with the Founder, Director of Architecture, and project leads on competitions, masterplans, cultural districts, waterfront developments, and high-end residential schemes across the UAE and the wider region. Your work will shape how a project is conceived, presented, and won, from first sketch through to the package that hands over to the technical team.

We are looking for someone with a strong design voice and the craft to back it up: someone who can hold an idea through massing, plan, section, and image, and bring it to life in a way that convinces clients, juries, and collaborators.

• 3 to 8 years of experience as a practising architect, with most of that time spent in concept and schematic design at a recognised studio.
• A portfolio that demonstrates strong design thinking, spatial intelligence, and visual craft across a range of typologies and scales.
• Fluency in Rhino, with confidence in Grasshopper for massing studies and parametric exploration.
• Strong skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) and/or Canva for design communication, diagrams, and presentation.
• Visualisation ability: comfort moving between sketches, hand drawings, SketchUp, Enscape, V-Ray, or similar to test and present ideas quickly.
• Experience with AI tools in the design workflow: image generation, concept exploration etc.
• Excellent design communication. You can take an idea from concept to a clear narrative for a client, jury, or internal review.
• A genuine curiosity about place, culture, and context, with the discipline to translate research into design moves.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture from an accredited institution.
• Must be currently based in the UAE, or willing to relocate.

Nice to have:

• Competition experience, particularly with government, semi-government, or developer clients in the Gulf.
• Familiarity with the GCC context, climate, and cultural sensitivities.

• Lead and contribute to concept and schematic design across competitions, masterplans, and live projects, under the direction of the Founder and project leads.
• Develop massing, planning, and design strategies that respond to site, climate, brief, and cultural context.
• Produce the drawings, diagrams, and imagery that explain a design clearly: plans, sections, axonometrics, renders, and sketches.
• Help shape client presentations and competition submissions, working closely with the visualisation and graphics teams.
• Collaborate with the wider design team through pin-ups, reviews, and workshops, contributing ideas and challenging others.
• Support the handover of concept and schematic packages to the technical team, ensuring the design intent is carried through.
• Mentor junior designers and contribute to the studio's wider design culture.
